BOARDMAN, OH – Valeria Demidovich, 88, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 5, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Valeria was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Campbell, Ohio a daughter of the late John and Catherine Maxgay Lyda, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Petersburg High School (now Springfield Local) and worked for A&P Tea Company as a cashier.
Mrs. Demidovich enjoyed landscaping, interior design, and cooking and baking.
Valeria was a member of Holy Family Parish in Poland, Ohio.
Mrs. Demidovich leaves her husband of 62 years, Joseph S. Demidovich, whom she married Oct. 29, 1949, at St. John The Baptist Polish Church in Campbell, Ohio; two sons, Joseph (Charlyne) Demidovich of Lakeland, Fla. and Dr. James (Reeny) Demidovich of Boardman, Ohio; two daughters, Cathy (Steve) Ferenchak of Canfield, Ohio and Diane (Victor) Rovder of Powell, OH; eight grandchildren, Dr. Joseph Demidovich, Lisa Demidovich (Jeremy Berzon), Kristin and Jimmy Demidovich, Angie and Kenny Ferenchak, and Rachel and Alex Rovder; a great-granddaughter, Leona Berzon; and two sisters, Cecilia Day of Poland, Ohio and Genevieve Glista of Canfield, OH.
Valeria will be truly missed by all who loved her.
Besides her parents, Valeria was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Ed, Ted, and George Lyda; and a sister, Sophie Siembida.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
