Annie or Anna Lybrook b. 8/9/1855 in Cleveland, Ohio. Probably a brick wall, but I'm looking for her parents. She stated in the 1920 census that she lost her parents due to the Civil War.

She became a foster child of John and Nan Stewart in Warsaw, Missouri in the early 1860's. Family legends vary but one states that she was found on a river bank of the Osage River near Warsaw, Missouri when she was between ages of 5-10. She may have been travelling with a family named Shanks when an accident occurred that resulted in the death of one or more of the party she was travelling with -- possibly including her brother. Family tradition says that her father was German and had served in the Civil War; that her mother was of American Indian origin. I have no proven facts about her parents except that they were in Ohio when Annie was borned. It is possible that her brother was not drowned as Annie believed for she received a letter in 1924 from the St. Louis area from a person who said he was her brother. She didn't respond to the letter.
