Surnames: Lybrand
The Lybrand descentants that came from Germany and ended up with a 250 acre land grant on 20 mile branch of the Saluda River original name was leibbrand. the Liebbrandt is an english variation of the name. I am so a descendant of Wesley Allen Lybrand who is berried in the New Holland cemetary. I have a copy of the original land Grand, survey and petition to get the grant. The reason for changing the name was because he had to swear aligance to the King of England to get the grant so he Hendrick Leibbrand changed his name to Lybrand. I also have a picture of Governor James Glen who signed the land grant. Thru 2011 there has been 14 generations and on my line there has been a male all 14 generations. I'd be glad to talk to anyone that wants more about the Hendrick Lybrand clan.
