Does anyone know anything about a Carl Lybeck and/or a Adeline Anderson. I would like to know when they were born including the place, married, when they died, and anything about their parents.

I have a Carl Lybeck in my family tree. What dates are you talking about?

I don't have much info on my grandfather. I know he came to Canada with at least one brother, Carl. Grandpa homesteaded in Ketchen, Saskatchewan where he married Marie Ingstrom raised a family. Carl continued on to the gold fields of BC. As far as we know he never married, but was shot over a gold claim in Atlin, BC.
Any information on this UNIQUE name is welcome. I write to my Dad's cousin in Sweden, but haven't gotten much info.
Thanx.

Lybeck, Carl

I have a Karl Christiansen Lybeck, b. 1871, Christiania, Norway, in my family. Any relation?

Iver Lybeck 1827-1909, and Karen 1829-1911

Some of my great-great-grandparents, but can't find any other traces.

They emigrated to the US and somewhere near Red Wing, MN, sometime after 1856, and I believe Iver may be the person behind some land records that are "pay only" on ancestry com, in MN. Iver's daughter Johanna (1856-11932) married my great grandfather Thor Ellingson (1854-1938) and their daughter Hilda Annette (Ellingson) Oleson Holmes was one of my grandmothers.

I have a relative named Carl (Karl) Lybeck (Liback). He is my grandfather's (Axel Lybeck) brother. I'm not sure what year he was born, but Axel was bornin Norra Finskoga, Varmlands, Sweden in 1883. So, it would be the same generation. Carl's brothers and sisters are: Axel, Bernhard, Torvald, Albert, Jenny, Olaus, Einar, Thea, Linnea, and Marti. Their parents are John and Ann Liback.

I heard from one of my relatives, Dorothy T, in 2006 (6 years after I posted the prior message!):

This is a great granddaughter of Iver and Karrin Lybeck, and a granddaughter of Maren Lybeck (Simonson), younger sister of Johannah. I recently noticed Mark Holmes was looking for information about Iver's family on the Ancestry Message board, ... am trying some addresses I found in a report on Thor Ellingson. This is definitely a branch of the family he is looking for.

Further investigation revealed a smallpox innoculation certificate for Karen Sophia Lybeck, in 1831, and a relative or contact in Norway helped translate it into Engish:
--------------------------------------------------------

COWPOX INOCULATION CERTIFICATE

This certificate, which should be issued without any fees, should be shown to the Church vicar within 6 weeks after receipt:

Karen Sophia Joergensensdaughter Jonsrud born in Roemskog annex of Roednes parish of the

parents Joergen Halvorsen and Ingebor Thoresdaughter living in Roemskog annex,

3 years old, was by me, undersigned, in the year 1831, the 27th August, inoculated by cowpox.

After thorough examination between the 7th and 9th day after the inoculation, I have found all the signs that prove that this is the real cowpox; they were intact and unbroken, containing a clear

fluid, suppressed down in the middle and surrounded by a red circle.

Karen Sophia has from this, had the real cowpox inoculation, which will protect her from smallpox in the future; which by honour and conscience, is testified by Kilerud (?) on 2nd October of the year 1831.

confirmed: Siegelberg (?)

Assistant Vaccinator

This certificate was shown to me on 9th October 1831,

Kilb&.

Vicar of Roednes Parish

Rømskog is a parish in Rødenes clerical district of Østfold, Norway. Substitution of oe for ø is sometimes seen - but really isn't the same.

Karen Sophia born 8 August 1828 to unmarried Ingeborg Thorsdatter and Jørgen Halvorsen. See record #18 on right hand page -

I probably have all the information you need. My brother researched and produced a geanology paper in 1976. My father Edwin was Carl's brother.
