I am looking for any information on William James Lyall who married Elizabeth M. Donald 26 Mar 1912 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada.

I would very much like to know if they had any children, when/where they died, etc.

Elizabeth Donald was a cousin of mine.

Thank you.

Hi,

I am a relation of William James Lyall. Are you sure about this marriage as on William's attestation papers for the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in 1916 he states that he is single. William James died in the war as I am sure you know. I would love to know if he was actually married and if he had children.

Regards, Cary

The marriage is listed in the Manitoba Vital Records, on their web site.

I have no knowledge of any children, etc., because they do not list any birth's that are less than 100 years old.

Hi,

I think that is a different James Lyall as James William Lyall born 1894 goes by William, even though his middle name is James. I William James stating he is single on his attestation papers really confirms that this is another James Lyall.

Hope that helps clear it up.

Hi there,

Not sure if you are still looking for information, and if we're after the same James Lyall, born in Dundee, Scotland (abt 1888?) and married an Elizabeth Donald (born abt 1885 in Edinburgh). They lived in Portage la Prairie, and were farmers. They died in Portage la Prairie as well.

They had four sons and a daughter.

If it is the same one, I'm one of his great grandsons, so he definitely had kids! I'd be interested in learning more about Elizabeth as well!

Thanks,

Steven Lyall
