I am looking for any information that might show any military service or occupation that would cause the Lescallette families of Maryland to travel westward. Today, a large percentage of the Luscaleet, and variant spellings, live along the I-70 corridor route between Cumberland, Maryland and the Mississippi River. This route instersects, and runs parallel with, U.S. 40, which is formerly known as the National Road, or the Cumberland Trail. I have more history on the National Road, but do not have any information about military services to rule that out.
