I believe George Lurcott Sr. is the first, and possibly the only, Lurcott to come to the USA. This is not a common name in North America. Per the Mormon’s IGI, this name was prevalent in Hereford and Worcester counties in England. George was born Jan. 31, 1812 in England. He married Ann Townsend Feb. 9, 1837 in Saint Mark, Kennington, London, Surrey County, England. Ann was born Feb. 7, 1817 in England. Their first 4 children were born in London prior to their ocean voyage c1850 to New York City. George was a tailor. In the 1870s they moved to West New York, New Jersey. George died May 15, 1900 in West New York, N.J. and Ann died Oct.16, 1901 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and both were buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.

The children of George Sr. and Ann Lurcott are:

John Edward was born in Nov 1865 in New York City and married Ellen Grace LAURENCE on Feb.21, 1894 in New York City. John died in Sept 1947 and is buried in Woodster Cemetery, Danbury, CT.

I am not a descendant of George Lurcott Sr. Ellen Grace LAURENCE is my great-grandaunt. Her daughter Florence Lurcott and I corresponded, prior to Florence’s passing, and she mentioned the Laurences traveling on the same ship as the Lurcotts. George Sr. may have sailed over first, then, Ann and the children followed. I hoped researching the Lurcotts, and possibly locating a ship passenger list, would aid my Laurence research. Then, this research took on a life of it’s own. I welcome the opportunity to link together the living Lurcott descendants through this forum.
