It is interesting that my Father Vernon Lunger Shive was passed his middle name through his Father George Lunger Shive. Other relatives of my grandfather like Clarence Lunger Shive and others in the Shive family were made to have the same middle name so this was a very important name to the Shive's. I can only think of one Lunger and I believe her name was Sarah and she married a Shive. However i am unable to find any information on this. My fathers side of the family lived in and around Phillipsburg, NJ.

Dale N Lunger also Stella Sager Lunger

My parents divorced and I did not know my father, Dale N Lunger. I do know he was born on Feb 13 1919, his mother's name was Stella Sager Lunger, father's name Chester Lunger. Stella's mother's name was Mary Sager. From the ss death index, I found Dale passed away November 1986 in Calumet City Illinois. My mother's name was Norma Lorraine Henson. Dale's family lived in Indiana and Danville Illinois, my mother was from Champaign Urbana Illinois. Dale married June Barnhart (not sure of spelling) after divorce from my mother. Chester Lunger died August 25 1923. Any information about the Lunger, Sager family would be greatly appreciated.

Elizabeth had cousins also named Elizabeth, as explained below.

My Abraham Lunger (senior) had a daughter Elizabeth, born on March 1, 1784. Abraham's brother Ludwig had a daughter Elizabeth born on March 27, 1779. Jacob Lunger, Jr., had a daughter (your Elizabeth) born on September 17, 1786. Their brother Johannes had a daughter Elizabeth born August 23, 1772. I have no information about the children of the other four sons of Jacob Lunger and Catrina.

North, Van Order, Lunger

Posting again a message from some time ago hoping that someone has some answers.

Some members of the North family mentioned below married into the Lunger and Van Order families in the Tompkins/Seneca County area. See note below re male occupations that seemed to link these families.

James North, b. 1783 in NJ m. Lydia Raymond b. 1786 in MA

James and Lydia moved to Seneca County, New York sometime in the early 1800s where they had eight [identified] children. This North line, for the most part, lived in Seneca and/or Tompkins County, New York. Several of the male descendants were carpenters or boat builders by trade and tended to marry into families with the same skills.

I am interested in finding the descendants of George H. North, b. 1877 in Seneca County, New York, m. Margaret Unknown. They moved to Rhode Island and probably died there. Two children. This George H. was known to me as "Uncle George". I have a picture of him that I would be happy to share with a descendant. Handsome fellow.

His son, also George H. b. Jan 1912 in MA, d. Aug 1995 in CA m. Katherine Unknown. His nickname was "Buster". I also have a picture of him that I would be happy to share with a descendant.

Daughter of George, b. 1877 - Anna, b. 1914 in MA, m. Ralph Cataldo and lived in California in the 1960s. Four Cataldo children, Carol, Pat, Ralph and Robert - no dates for them.

I haven't seen anyone on the message boards that seems to be looking at this line. Am hoping to share these pictures with a descendant before my kids thow out all the "Stuff" that they have no connection to. My association with this line is only that "a North" married my father's sister.

It may be that most of this North line moved out of the Tompkins County area and current generations are unaware of any connection to this locale. WHERE ARE THE DIE HARD GENEALOGISTS LOOKING FOR UNCLE GEORGE?

Always happy to share - many folks in the Seneca, Tompkins and Schuyler Counties of New York.
I'm looking for information on Elizabeth Lunger b September 17, 1786 in Greenwich Township, Morris County, New Jersey. She is the daugher of Jacob and Juliana Hulshizer. I think Elizabeth married Samuel Evans. I think that your Abraham was the brother of my elizabeth who married Samuel Evans. If you don't have these people in your file could you make any suggestions on where else to look for them.
obit for Fannie Lunger Grantier Hare

Glasco Sun, Cloud County, Kansas, Dec. 25, 1908, page 5:
Obituary of Mrs. D.L. Hare
Fanny Lunger was born in Lee county, Pa., about the year 1830, and was married to Peter Grantier at her father's home in Richland county, Ohio, in 1856. To this union was born one son, Albert, who still survives her. She was married to D.L. Hare in the fall of 1899. Mr. Hare preceded her in death two weeks and a few hours.
Mrs. Hare was a practical Christian, having united with the Baptist church at Rock Island, Ill., in 1882. She later became a member of the Christian Adventist church of Glasco, Kansas. She died at the home of W. B. Hare, Dec. 20, at 8:30 a.m. Funeral services were conducted in the M.E. church in Glasco by the pastor, Rev. J.T. Bates, on Tuesday Dec. 22 at eleven o'clock a.m. Interment was made in Glasco cemetery.
In the passing away of Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Hare thus within a few days of each other, the community loses two more of its old settlers. Mr. Hare came to the Solomon Valley in the early times, when conveniences were not near so plentiful as now, and helped life this country out of the wilderness to its present stage of cultivation among the foremost states of the union. His children who survive are among our foremost citizens, and the sympathy of the community goes out to them in this bereavement.
_________________________________________
CARD OF THANKS
We extend to our neighbors and friends our sincere thanks for their help and sympathy during the sickness and death of Father and Mother Hare.
Their children and Relatives

I have the following information on Elizabeth Lunger, daughter of Jacob Lunger and Julianna Hulshizer. She married Sammuel Evans b. 1779 d. 1862. They were married 1823. They had two children Juliana Evans b. March 12, 1835 and Daniel Evans b. March 08, 1828 d. August 24, 1829. Julianna married John Hodge June 19, 1845. This information comes from the work of J. Fred Lunger who has done extensive genealogy on the Lunger family. I may have more that I haven't entered yet. I will double check. I have listed on my website what I have entered at this time. www.myfamiliesbranchesandleaves.com Feel free to email me at Norenet1@aol.com

Norene

I am descended from Abraham Lunger and Elizabeth Fritts through a line that stayed in New Jersey (Abraham, Jr.; Morris Fritts Lunger; Mary Lunger Dalley). I have a copy of "Of Kindred Germanic Origins" that has a section on the Lungers, but it got my Abraham confused with his son, so he ends up supposedly the father of his grandchildren. I sometimes travel to NJ to do research. There were two Morris Fritts Lungers born about 3 years apart, which adds to the confusion. If anyone is interested in my line, I'd be happy to swap information. I have photos of a couple Lunger graves.
