Lundquist in Sweden, Chicago, Door County Wisconsin

Looking for info on Anders Lundquist (died before 1910) and Christine or Christina Lundquist (1828-1923, died in Chicago). I know they lived in the Irving Park area of Chicago.

I only know of one child, John Emil Lundquist (1872-1961), who married Caroline Olson (1884-1964). They had three boys, Roy (1911-1951), Lester (1907-1974), and Emory (1913-1992). At some point they moved from Chicago to Sister Bay, Wisconsin, in Door County. I know Roy, John, and Caroline are buried there.

If you have any more information about when this family was in chicago or when Anders and Christine emigrated from Sweden, that would be awesome. Thank you!

Susan:
Zella (Mattoon) Lundquist is my 6th cousin 2x removed... distant, yes! She married Clarence P. Lundquist in 1920.
I've been doing research on my Mattoon tree branch... My great-great grandmother was Electa Adaline Mattoon, granddaughter of the Revolutionary hero Joel Mattoon. I was interested in the Mattoon line emigrating to the West Coast: Oregon, Washington and California.
It looks as though Zella (Mattoon) Lundquist in the following towns:
Birth: (1901) Hood River, OR
Marriage: (1920) Portland, OR
Residence: (1930) Los Angeles, CA
Residence: (1931-1936) Bremerton, WA
Travel: (1937) sailed from Vancouver, WA to Honolulu, HI
Residence: (1937-?) Bremerton, WA
Travel: (1943) sailed from Honolulu, HI back to West Coast
Death: (1989) Fremont, CA

She had (at least) 2 children:
Jack Clarence Lundquist (1922-2010)
Barbara Mae Lundquist (1933-?)
Hope this helps!
(PS.: I've also been researching another line, the Lyons... we may be related in a couple of ways!)
-Ro Fleury

Hello Laila,
Thank you for contacting me. I am very interested in any family stories about why Alma and her brothers came to the US. I have heard from Kurt Olsson too - is he a relative of yours? What is Ellen Allan's relationship to Alma? Is it possible to contact Teresa Allen to meet her & see the photographs?
Alma Andersdotter is my great grandmother. My grandmother Florence Lundquist told me a few things about her mother, but it is never enough for those of us who research our families. You can contact me at hodgepodge51@gmail.com - messages can be translated there.
Kris Gleason Miller

She married Alfred Lundquist (Linquist) in 1888 and I can't find any marriage information as well. She and Alfred lived in Dutchess County, New York, USA most of their married lives, and Alfred died between 1903 and 1910.

Hi Kristine,
I guess the Louis Lundquist clan is pretty new to the states. I can't get any info from Sweden, especially since Louis change his last name when he came here. Louis would be my great-great grandfather. My grandfather is Robert Henry, son of Paul Lundquist. They have access to many old Swedish church record books in Chicago and around the country which held a trove of information on Christina and her Nystedt children and also her Widell children.

Hello Rosie. I have just found your message from 2009. I am the great granddaughter of Christina Sofia (Sophie) Nystedt who is the aunt of Alma Nystedt Lundquist. Christina and John Oscar (Alma's father) were siblings and emigrated with their parents Johan Emil Nystedt and Christina Louisa Anderson from Småland, Sweden to Chicago in 1864. After Johan died Christina Louisa married Gustav Widell and they all moved to Cherokee County, Iowa in 1885. My Great Grandmother Sophie Osterberg and her sister Anna Louise Nystedt Bloom got married in Chicago/Colehour area and remained in that area. I have recently engaged the services of a genealogist at the Swenson Swedish Immigration Center at Augustana College to help me dig deeper into the histories of Johan and Christina and they found their parents, grandparents and siblings.

Sandy,

Can you give me more info on Anna Malm like birth date & what part of Sweden she came from? You said that she lived in Princeton, Illinois. I am related to the Malm's from Princeton. My great grandpa was Johannes Augustus Malm who had a sister Johanna. If you have more info on Anna let me know & we can compare our records to see if they are the same family.

grandma2

Hi Dave,

I found the records in Ancestry's 'Sweden, Church Records, 1500-1937' Or more specifically: County: Malmöhus (Skåne)
Parish: Raus Village, Farm or Croft: Pålstorp 7 Grund
Record Type: Husförhör (Household Examination)
Year Range: 1891 - 1896

If you don't have access on Ancestry, the Swedish records are also available on www.arkivdigital.net - not free, but they do have short term subscriptions that are reasonable. It's been a while, but I think that it was about $12 a week or a month for $29. Might be worth looking into.

In the meantime, I can forward the HH exam that I found if you'd like. Let me know.

Glad I could help.

Best of luck,

Jo Murphy

Hi,
I am looking for information about my great uncle Carl Lundquist.

Here is what I know:
He was one of about 12-14 siblings born in Sweden. 4 of them came to the United States. Those 4 were Carl, Anna, Esther & Bertha. Anna was my great grandmother. Carl Lundquist drove supply trucks to the front lines in France during WWI, although I cannot seem to find any military records on him. He worked as a chauffer for a wealthy family, that adored him & treated him as part of their family. He was apparently very young when he died. He died in a Sleigh riding accident while sledding with his employers children. The family that employed him Paid for him to be buried in their own private family cemetery. I believe he died in the winter of 1923

If anyone has any info I can be Emailed at:
DaveWhiteEagle@aol.com

Thanks
~Dave Gerace

Hi all,
I'm looking for a little more information on Emil and Caroline Lundquist. Emil lived from 1872-1961, and Caroline lived from 1883-1964. They had a son, Roy, who lived from 1911-1951. Roy is my great grandfather, and he married Doris Hedeen (my great grandma), who lived from 1917-1996. All four of them are buried in Little Sister Cemetary in Sister Bay, Wisconsin. I believe Emil was born in Sweden, and I THINK Caroline was too, but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that both this family and Doris' family lived in Door County, Wisconsin; more specifically, Liberty Grove or Sister Bay. Any information helps. Thanks!
