I am researching relations of James Luman, born VA 1805/6,
probably a son of Rezin/Reason Luman/Lewman.
He resided in West Virginia, in a township that changed boundaries over the 1800-1850 time frame: it has been part of Wood County, Harrison County, Tyler County and Ohio County (most recent to most historical).
I found several Luman/Lewman households in the 1820 Census for Virginia, in counties which were to become West Virginia:
1. Tyler County (roll 140)

1 male 26-45
1 female 26-45
2 males under 10
1 female under 10
2. Wood County (roll 138)
http://www.archive.org/stream/populationsc18200138unit#page/...John Lewman
1 male 10-16
2 males 16-25)
1 male over 45
1 female 10-16
3. Ohio County

text and numbers barely legible -- need to see a better copy of this page -- but this is the page.
Does anyone have connection to these families?
Kind regards,
Liz.
