Do you have their church marriage record?
Sometimes a draft registration form will have a place of birth. Have you found Walter's?
By any chance one of them or both of them were naturalized citizen? There is a paper trail
that will have a place of birth as well as port of departure, arrival and name of a ship.
By any chance lived pass 1940 and not naturalized than Alien Registration Form.
The SS# came into in 1936. Did your ancestors have them? If yes, the SS-5Form [$27] would have a place of birth and parents names.

Ancestors had several children. One would think the church baptismal record would have a mention where parents were born.

I'm looking for family of Mary Lukowski, Walter Doran/Dorau/Dorow. They came from Germany/Poland and Were In PA where their Daughter Genevieve was Born and Mary was a housekeeper. They Married Between 1900 and 1903 (Their Daughter Was Born in 1903) and She was listed as Single in the 1900 census. I am look for any family that knows anything about them. They Moved To Detroit,MI. They would be my Great Grandparents. They had Several Children (Arthur, Genevieve, Gertrude, Therese, Jerome, Isadore (Steve), Sophia Elizabeth (Betty), and Lucille (Lucy on the Census). I know they were in Detroit Area for Several Years, My dad was Born there in 1934. I also Do not Know What His Real Father's Name is. I believe the First Name Is Steve... But No real Answers.. * Behle, Posen, Prussia is now Biala, Wielkopolskie, Poland

Ferdinand Lukowski was the brother of my great-grandmother Barbara Lukowski. Ferdinand (1852) and Barbara (1850) were born in Rajkowy (Poland). Michael Lukowski was the father, the mother was Catharina Fiertalski (Fierthala). Where Michael Lukowski was born, I don't know, maybe in Poznan (?).
The siblings of Ferdinand and Barbara were: Michael (1854), Paulina (1859), Justina (1862).

I posted to this thread a fews years back regarding my grandmother Louise Lukowski. Seems there were at least 3 or 4 Louise Lukowskis in Bay City during the 1880's - 1910's. Two were born in the mid to late 1880's and the third was a bit older. The 4th appears to be a Louise married to a Lukowski.

As it turns out my grandmother was the daughter of Michael Lukowski and Clara Tykowski. I've found Michael's immigration date and data on my grandmother and siblings but can find nothing on the Tykowski family.

Hello. Stanley was Kasper and Anthony and Martins Brother correct? Well so far that is what I have found. The Stanley I am related to was born in 1811 and married Marianna Polroleszanka? in a Catholic parish in Zysowo Witkowo in 1841. Stanley's father would be Andreas Strzeszynski. Update: Franz and Apolonia Lukowski departed Hamburg for New York March 13, 1877 aboard the steam ship Tiger. Their residence is listed as Schonlanke (now Trzcianka), Prussia.

LUKOWSKI Family of Michigan City, La Porte Co., Indiana

Looking for ancestors of my gg grandfather, Franz (Frank) LUKOWSKI. Frank was born 1849 in Prussia (village unknown). Naturalization papers indicate he emigrated 1876. His obit says he settled in Momence, Kankakee Co, Illinois. He married Apollonia BLUEMKE about 1876 (possibly Momence). Their first child, Anna (my g grandmother), was born 2-Dec-1877 in Momence, IL. By 1879 they moved to Michigan City, La Porte Co., Indiana. Franz died 7-Oct-1899 in Michigan City and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery. According to 1900 census, Frank and Apollonia had 6 children, but only two survived. The surviving children were Anna SHULTZ of Hammond, IN and Mary LAKE of Ferndale, WA.

Frank had a brother Michael LUKOWSKI also of Michigan City, IN and Frank's obit mentions an unnamed brother in "the old country." There also appears to be a Michigan connection. According to Michael's obit, he married Rosella DREWS c1882 in Wyandotte, MI.

Hi, Jo. Yest this is my family. William is my maternal grandfather. He married Augustine Damrau. Patricia is the 1st cousin of my mom, Delores. Patricia's mother is Clara Damrau (Augustine's sister) and her father is Vincent (William's brother). Vincent's twin was Stefan, who died a few month's after birth.

I'm interested in what you've found out about this family -- for me, they have been very elusive with frequent name changes and not wanting to talk of the past to their children. I have found out that Joseph's parents were Valentine and Karolina. Caroline and at least 3 other of Joseph's siblings were in Bay City at the turn of the century: Stanley, m. Mary ???, Marie, m. John Strzeszynski, Tomasz, d. 1901, age 30.

I do believe that Tomasz and Marie were born in the village of Stroszki, county Sroda, province, Poznan. Nearest Catholic parish is Nekla. My next step is to try to verify other family members are from this general area.

I have a FTM file, numerous census info, city directories, and death certificates I can share. I also have a copy of the ship's manifest page listing Joseph and Julia and 3 of their sons on the SS Ems. I wish I had a more complete photograph collection. I have William & Augustine's wedding portrait (which has one of William's brothers and possibly Clara) and a photograph of the four brothers at my Mom & Dad's wedding (1955). I also have a Damrau family photograph and one of just the parents, Frederick and Frances which may be of interest to you.

I have been searching for a photograph of Joseph and Julia for 6 years, with no luck. They died before my mom was born and she has never seen a picture of either of them.

If you're interested in any or all of the information I have, I'd be happy to email a little at a time, or perhaps send you a CD if you give me a few weeks.

My G- Grandfather Jozef's gravestone indicated he was born in 1858, while many of the census records would put him a few years older than that. I trust the birth record the most.

Do you have a death certificate for your Stanley? What is his birthdate on that document? Does it have his parent's names listed as Valenty and Karolina?

I have the 1910 census (taken 5th of May) showing the family living on Eighteenth Street. Louise was 21 years old, born in Michigan, and her occupation (I think, due to the handwriting) was a tailoress in a shop.

Hi, Donna. My Stanley & Mary (maiden name unkown) Lukowski lived on 18th Street, and he was born about 1860. They had children Louise, Irena, Valeria, Arthur & Theodore.

Therefore, these 2 Stanleys are not the same person, but, yes, they could still be related, so here is the info I have for Stanley's family. His parents are Valentine and Carolina, and he had at least 3 siblings living in Bay City: brother Joseph b. 1855, d. 1930 m. Julia Kowalski; sister Marie/Maryanna b. about 1862, d. 1944, m. John Strzeszynski; brother Tomasz, b. about 1871, d. 1901, m. ?

I have not verified it yet, but I believe this family to have originated in the village of Stroszki, county of Sroda, province of Poznan. The nearest Catholic Parish to Stroszki was Nekla, which is about 16 miles east of the city of Poznan.

Thanks for answering. I am entering the new information I have and will send you a genealogy report in the next day or two over the internet. That way you can see where I am at. The Lukowski's and Rezler's are double related. Patricia Lukowski married Raymond Rezler and Pat's brother Robert Lukowski married Raymond's sister Lorraine Rezler. It certainly keeps me confused. Would you have any more info on their child Louise? My grandmother was Louise Lukowski from bay city born sometime in the 1880's. She married George M. Beyer and they lived in Detroit during the teens until the 40's. She died in Florida in 1969.

My great grandgrand father was named ferdinand and lived in Munising Michigan. One of his son's was named Joseph. I do not know if there were other sibilings. Joseph eventually moved to Portland Oregon. Lukowski decendants live in the area around Portland and in Washington state.
