My mother was a Ludlum. Her family lived in Louisiana but we think her great grandfather came from Ohio in the mid 1800s. She has mentioned the name Smith Ludlum. Do you have a source of good Ludlum family history? Her ggrandfather was Oliver Ludlum and her grandfather was born in New Orleans and named Joseph Wesley Ludlum.
Thanks for any leads
Jo

Ligeia Boggs Ludlum and Unknown Ludlum, a military man

Seeking info. on John "Jack" Peters, b. about 1931-1933 in
Sumner, Lawrence Co., Illinois. His father was John N. Peters, b. Illinois; his mother was Missouri Boggs "Zow" Peters, b. 1886 in Greenup Co., Kentucky.

Jack's father died when he was a young boy, sometime in the early 1930s. John N.Peters was married previously and had older children. His mother, Missouri or Zow, died several years after that. Jack was then raised by his aunt Ligeia Boggs who later married a military man named Ludlum.

In 1950, Jack and aunt Ligeia were listed on the New York Passenger Lists as arriving on a military ship that sailed from Germany, headed to Greenup Co., Kentucky. Jack was listed as John B. Peters, age 19.

On the 1930 census for Sumner, Christy Twp., Lawrence Co., Illinois, J.N. Peters and Zow Peters and son Paul and Aunt Ligeia Boggs lived together as a family. J.N. Peters was an engineer in the oil fields. Ligeia was a medical student.

Am trying to locate more information about this family. Jack married and has a daughter named Joanna who lives in California. Jack and Ligeia both died in Florida and are buried there.

Any help or even the slightest clue about any of these individuals would be appreciated.
Ludlams of Stoke

I am researching my ancesters and think that the Ludlams who started the tunnel from Stoke Warfe to Blisworth are my ancesters. I think Mary Ludlam married Samuel Limb as I have found some information that connects the Limbs to the Ludlams. I was wondering if anyone has any info on these Ludlams as i seems to be stuck and just keep coming back to the building of the tunnel. I have a copy of a burial in 1809 of a Benjamin Ludlam who fell ill and died at his son in laws Samuel Limb at Stoke Warfe I think this Samuel Limb is my gt gt gt gt grandad and they moved from Stoke Warfe to Preston Brook. If anyone has any info I would be most appreciated.

Yes there are/were Ludlums in Westfield NJ.
Yes they are elusive, very much so.My interest in the NJ group is centered around Priscilla Ludlum. This is what I do know about Priscilla Harrison of NJ who moved to KY with her parents.
She first married James Seabrook of New Albany, Floyd Co. IN, who died shortly thereafter. The had at least one Child--Harriet Seabrook, b between 1816-1819.
In the mid 1820's I find Priscilla as a dressmaker in Louisville, KY and then not until 1860 where she is in her daughters home as Priscilla Ludlum.
After much confusion and discussion with cousins we have pieced together that obviously Priscilla married a Mr. Ludlum, but which one we do not know.
The 1825 city directory of Louisville has 2 Ludlums.
The big clue here seems to be that all of these names are associated with NJ. Particularly the area around Elizabethtown.
This is too long already, but I have documentation of this data.
and currently living descendants to contact.
Feel free to contact me off the board.
Patricia Snyder
Shadancer@aol.com
My grandfather was Benjamin Louis Ludlum. He was born in 1867, probably in Brunswick County, NC. He married Lenore Smith. I know nothing else about the family, except that my biological father was Bradley Ludlum, whom I never knew. Can someone help me fill in the gaps as to some of my ancestors and where they came from, etc?

My understanding from an extensive research
my Great Grand-father did 50 years ago or more
is that some of the Ludlam family changed the
spelling in the states (colonies) to Ludlum
so it would seem it's one branch of the
original Ludlams who first came to Boston
in 1648 on the "Good Ship Trial".
He was from "the 7th generation in
America" (my GGfather)
My mother has a very extensive scroll which
covers his linage through 9+ generations
with some anectodtal info. I don't expect to be
around that scroll for a year or so as
I am on the west coast and she the east.
But when it is copied I will post to this
roots board.
best regards, Robert Davis

I can find almost no information on the Ludlum family in Westfield, NJ in the 1700's. There were many living in the area at the time. There is plenty of documentation for the Ludlow family of New Providence, supposedly they are relations. Sarah was my GGGGGM, died in 1814 and is buried in Westfield. Someone out there must have something on the Ludlum's, and it has to be the worlds best kept secret.

I was sorting through some old family photographs from my great-aunt and came a cross this nice studio portrait that she had marked "Gertrude Ludlum, Manzanola, CO" on the back. As it is a nice portrait by Barber of Denver, and I don't recognize the name or face from my family, I thought someone from her family might like to have it. Anyone recognize the name or face? Or... Does anyone know of a connection with the Hises, Sportsmans, or Girvins in the Manzanola, Rocky Ford, La Junta area of CO? If anyone recognizes her , I'd be happy to send her to them.
