Luark Indian Heritage

For those of you researching the Luark India Heritage, my Scott Luark/Susan Evelyn Deakins line always said we were Cherokee. My mother Cecil Evelyn Luark and her brother Delmas looked Indian with their black hair dark complexion and facial features especially Delmas.

I've also found in my research that we may be Blackfoot and possibly Miami from the Eel River Tribe of Wabash county Indiana.

For years I've been asking people, who the parents of Margaret Way was. Deciding to go a different route I decided to research the Eel River Tribe and this is what I found. (Margaret ay by the way is the mother of Eliza Vandyne who Married Andrew Taylor Luark.)

Margaret Way born, March 7 1790, in Virginia and died March 7, 1876 Wabash, Indiana, married Thomas Vandyne August 9 1812. Thomas was born about 1792 in Pennsylvania and died March 8 1877 in Wabash Indiana. It is said that it's possible that Margaret Way is the daughter of an Indian Chief of the Eel River Band of the Miami.

In researching the Eel River Band I find that Little Turtle was Chief of the Eel River Band during the time Margaret Way was born. He was born possibly in 1752 somewhere near Fort Wayne Indiana and died in 1812 in Indiana. The Eel River Band lived along the Wabash River in Wabash County, Indiana.

This shows me that, due to the birth locations of Little Turtle and Margaret Way and the location of the Eel River Band that Margaret isn't the daughter of Chief Little Turtle and she wasn't born into the Eel River Band of the Miami.
