Dear All,
Does anyone have a MARK, LUKE or JOHN Loving in their family tree in the 1840s to 1860s?
These three brothers we know emigrated to the States, from England, probably sailing from Bridport. There were four brothers - biblically christened Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But one, Matthew, my ancestor, flunked the voyage at the last moment and carried on with his life in the New Forest, here in England.
We know nothing of the fate of the other 3 brothers, their descendants. We do know that someone from Texas who traced his lineage to our source visited Newport in the Isle of Wight some years back (where many members of the family were mayors in the eighteenth century). He came looking for my uncle but missed him!
We'd love to find out more. We believe the emigration to the States must have been between the 1840s and the 1860s. Anyone have a Mark, Luke or John belonging to that era?
It is fascinating to see how may Lovings there are now in the States. Here in Great Britain we are almost extinct.
Best wishes,
Wendy Loving
