My grandmother was Dorothy Wing-Beckemeyer. Her father was Harvey Tharpe Wing (went by Tharpe...said "Thorp"). Her mother was Nita Irene Love, who died when I was about 4 or 5 in about 1982. There is a lot of information available about the Wing side, and I was very close with Beth Wing (my great aunt). But the Love side has seemed to be more difficult to find info on. I do have a couple pictures I need to scan in that people may find interesting...but finding more info on Nita Irene Love-Wing's parents has been difficult.

Is the Love family of Danville California....possibly from Virginia something anyone out there has info on?

Here is what I know from word of mouth passed down in my family: The Love familyi owned approximately 26 acres (maybe more) of Danville California. They were one of the main farming families and founders of Danville. Supposedly they came to this area as missionaries at some point. I grew up on the Love ranch in Danville when I was a child....only 4 acres were left when I was there. It was off of El Pintado Road on El Alamo. When I was there we didn't have any close neighbors and there was a small ranch house and stable, chickens, a horse, etc. Now a large hill on the property has been leveled (at least one that I could see with all the new houses), the lilacs have been removed (they went all the way down the country driveway before), the house and stable are gone and there are at least 10 mansionettes on the property where the 4 acre ranch I grew up at once was. I just drove by it again yesterday to see how it's been developed. Very sad.

Anyways, the family has always been told that we should be very proud of the Love family history....because of their role in forming Danville, their role as missionaries (supposedly maybe from Virginia???). And yet......I have been having a heck of a time finding information about the Love ancestry. I know from the family that a lot of the Loves are buried at the Alamo Cemetary. I found a lot of Love names and confirmed them with family members at:

I plan to make a trip out there to check out records once the weather gets better. I believe Nita Irene Love's father was William Love. William Love had a sister named Ida Love and they lived at the ranch with Driscilla (sp? maybe Drucilla?) and Sophie Boone. I've always been told we're related to Daniel Boone....but haven't found the links on the Love side to show it yet.

I have been formally researching my family history for about 1.5 years....just kind of messing around before that. I have been away from doing too much researching for the past 6 months, but now I'm getting back into it and I'm still hitting that wall on the Love side.

The family I was closest to on the Wing-Love side is no longer living and of course that makes things more difficult. I am just so blessed that I wrote down a lot of their memories before they moved on.

Also....here are the names I have on the Love family so far who were buried in the Alamo Cemetary in California. Haven't gotten info on birth dates, death dates, etc. for most of them yet. Still need to go to the cemetary to retrieve the information. But...maybe some of these names might make a connection.

Based upon your posts, I have found the following information about your family:

Nita was the daughter of William G. Love and her mother has died by the time that Nita was 8 yrs old. William and his wife must have married about 1885 and she died before the 1900 census.

William's sister Sopha married Joel Hayden Boone. Joel was a descendant of George Boone, the brother of Daniel Boone and Jemima Boone, Daniel's daughter. So, while Sophia's children are related to the Boone family, you and your family are not related. Here are the two lines:

Squire Boone > George Boone > Squire Boone > Hayden Boone > Joel Boone

Squire Boone > Daniel Boone > Jemima Boone Calloway > John Boone Calloway > Emaline Roberta Calloway Boone (Joel's mother)

William G. Love was born in Illinois and the son of Robert B. and Amelia Love. Amelia's maiden name is currently unknown. Robert and Amelia were both born in Virginia.

Thanks to the people who helped me so quickly with the Love family history of Danville and Alamo, California. I have pictures and dates now from the Alamo Cemetary if anyone out there is interested. Also.....The Boone family plot and the Love family plot were side by side and obviously two of the first plots there. (I could tell by the location and the dates). So I have pictures of the Love Family Plots with names and dates, the Boone Family plot with names and dates, and the Wing family plot with names and dates. If anyone out there would like me to forward the pics just let me know.

I would love to have more info on the Love and Wing Plots in this cemetery.

I also found Robert B Love, wife Armelia, and daughter Sophia in 1850 Payson Twp., Adams Co, IL census (Ancestry search engine has them mistakenly id'd as Lone). Living with family is also a Caroline Anderson age 8.
