I guess you've probably seen the post by Jean-Luc:
http://boards.ancestry.ca/surnames.loubert/1/mb.ashxHe has spent the better part of the last fifteen to twenty years researching our family. Here is a very nice translation of his work to English
http://boards.tiscali.ancestry.co.uk/surnames.loubert/15/mb....We are basically all decedents of Pierre Loubère (read above).
In 2005 the town of Maria (founded by our ancestor) celebrated its 150th birthday. Jean-Luc was in part responsible for the information supplied to the town. They set up a huge display with photographs, birth, death, marriage certificates dating back to two generations in France. I had the pleasure of attending a Loubert family party where I met numerous Louberts of the 250 attending out of the more or less 500 Louberts of North America.
If you have more questions you should contact Jean-Luc, he has published a book of all his work that I think he translated to English.
Oddly enough Facebook is a great place to hunt also. There are a lot of cousins from the Gaspe Peninsula (Maria area) there.
P.S.: If you meet any Louberts from North America we are ALL related! There were cousins from California at the party, as well as distant cousins from France (Gascony).
