Frances Riddell LoSasso

1910-2003

Frances Riddell LoSasso, 93, passed away Aug. 31 in Cheyenne after suffering
a stroke on Aug. 20.

She taught school in Albin before her marriage and returned to teaching in
Cheyenne in 1958, retiring from the English Department at Cheyenne Central
High School in 1975. She then taught English at Laramie County Community
College.

Frances was born July 24, 1910, to Charles M. and Grace H. Riddell in Fort
Collins, Colo. She graduated from Fort Collins High School and the University
of Wyoming and held a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
She married John F. LoSasso on June 19, 1938, in Fort Collins, and lived the
balance of her life in Cheyenne.

She was a past president of the Cheyenne Girl Scout Council, a past matron of
the Mizpah Chapter #36 of Eastern Star, past Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel
#8, a member of White Shrine and Alpha Club Daughters of the Nile #73. The
LoSassos were founding members of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, where
Fran served on the Vestry, Alter Guild, as a Sunday School teacher, organist,
member of the choir, in St. Elizabeth's Guild and Daughter's of the King. She
also was active in the Retired Teachers' Association and Alpha Delta Kappa.

Her parents, sister Lois, brother Bob and grandson John Byars preceded her in
death.

She is survived by her husband, John of Cheyenne; a sister, Patty Cross of
Fort Collins; a brother, Everett Riddell of Southerland, Ore.; three daughters,
Carolyn Charkey of Fort Collins, Judy Bates of Howard, Colo., and Cookie
Miller of Denver; three grandsons, Mark and Martin Charkey and Paul Byars;
two granddaughters, Angela Crum and Heidi Kelley; 11 great-grandchildren; and
a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Christopher's Episcopal
Church, followed by a reception in the church parish hall. Her ashes will be
interred in the Riddell family plot at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins at
3 p.m. that afternoon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher's
Episcopal Church, 6202 Deming Blvd., Cheyenne, WY 82001.
