I have no connection to this family but found this in the June 26, 1894 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Gazette:
"OBITUARY - Capt. D.W. Look died Friday morning at his home, Mechanic street, aged 48 years. He retired from the sea about a year ago, making a trip to California for his health early in the winter. Although feeble he was only confined to the home for two days previous to his death. He was a victim of consumption. Capt. Look came to this city from Jonesboro whence he had been sailing since an early age. He entered the employ of Cobb, Wight & Co., and for about 15 years had been one of their most successful captains, commanding schooners, Milford, J.E. Holden and Carrie E. Look. These vessels were mostly employed in the coasting and West Indies trade. Capt. Look once saved the schooner Ira E. Wight from destruction in the harbor and refusing a purse, was presented a valuable nautical piece by the owners and the Rockland Lime Association. He was capable, honored and trustworthy and his many virtues are most easily expressed in those three words. Capt. Look married Carrie E. Marston of this city and by their union three children survive, Leslie, Pearl and Harold. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon, Rev. J.H. Parshley officiating. The services were under the direction of Aurora Lodge, F. & A.M., of which deceased was a member. There was a very large attendance, including many prominent sea captains."
I did a little research and found that D.W. Look was Daniel W. Look - his d.o.d. was June 29, 1894 and his age was 48 years, 5 mo., 16 days. He was born in Jonesboro, the son of Sidney and Mary (Cummings) Look - Sidney being born in Addison, Maine and Mary being born in Jonesboro. Capt. Look is buried in the Sea View Cemetery in Rockland.
I was also able to find that his widow, Caroline (Marston) Look died Sept. 28, 1931 in Rockland and she is buried at the Sea View Cemetery as well.
Capt. Look's son, Leslie was born in Rockland on Dec. 19, 1876 and died of consumpton on Nov. 9, 1902 in Rockland. He left a widow, Mildred (Libby) Look. He is buried at the Sea View Cemetery.
