Okay everyone. Has anyone come close to finding where he was born? He sailed out of Scotland into Perth Amboy, MA. Was he from England or Scotland? A cousins wife told me last night that he might have come from the Netherlands. Have seen everything on the internet. According to Edith Loughborough Mulford, 18 May 1955 and Lloyd A. Loofbourrow, 3 March 1944: "Our name was originally spelled Loughborough, an English name meaning Lake County. During the religious persecution of the 16th century they emigrated to Flemish Belgium and settled near Hanover along the border of Holland and Germany. The spelling of the name became Loofbourrow, the Flemish spelling. In the 17th century the family came to America under a land grant with Peter Stuyvesant and settled in PA." Just wondering if John Loofbourrow was born in Belgium/Germany, when he sailed from home, it would have been closer to land in London than in Scotland. Also does anyone have any proof? Also noticed that someone said that he came in through Ellis Island. Come on now. Ellis Island was not even there in the 1600's. Everyone seems to be copying everyone else's information without proof. Have worked on the Loofbourrow family for years but have no proof of where he came from only hearsay. How about we work together as a team and try to dig something up on John? Remember years ago and even now, people wrote names the way they sounded. Not the original way they were.
