Carol: You seem to have a lot of info already, but I can add a few more items. Gabriel's older bro. John Read Long (mine) b. 1754 St. Mary's Co.Md.(St. Andrew's Church Register) to John Long and Barbara Read dau. of Mr.John Read, former State Legislator in MD. and Vestryman of St. Andrews Ch. (Papenfuse, "Md Legis.")He d. 1771 with will. Gabe had another bro Capt. Reuben (RWS) who d. 1832 in Sumter Co. SC with a will. also sister Margaret who m. James Nash d. Jackson CO Ga.and Hannah m.? Sullinger -I have no record. After 1771, John and Barbara Long moved to Culpeper Co. VA on Mountain Run, where Gabriel and Reuben and John have Revol. service. Can't find John Read Long as "John Read", just 2 John Longs. They all moved to Abbeville SC area ca. 1786 when Barbara Long joined the Turkey Creek Church. According to Ethel Updike's book, Gabriel m. Mary Latimer who was b. in Charles Co. Md.(next to St. Mary's) just across the Potomac Riv. from Va. My John Read d. with a will in 1819 in Abbeville, wife Sally ? We wonder if she was dau of Joel Lipscomb, Esq., but don't know. Sons: Rueben untraced, Harrison, d.1830 no wf., Nicholas untraced, dau "Betsy" (mine) m. Joshua Shirley who d. 1854 Fayette Co. AL.
