My great great grandparents, William Ben LONG and Margaret Jane CRUTCHER married on 17 Mar 1864 in Franklin Co., KY. They are found on the 1870 Franklin Co., KY census with 3 children, Cordie, Sidney (Sydney) and William (who was actually Joseph). In 1880, William Ben is found in Pueblo Co., CO with a new wife and Cordie and Sidney. Joseph is with his grandparents (Joseph LONG) in Owen Co., KY. One would assume that Margaret had died, but since she was mentioned as Maggie LONG in her father's will in 1897, Franklin Co., KY it appears she was living and hadn't remarried. Her father was William Madison CRUTCHER. Was he a bigamist? Did they divorce? Or had she died and her father, having 18 or so children failed to notice?
