My grandfather was Syver Loken married to Gudrun Andersen. They immigrated to Canada in about 1904 with 2 small daughters Margit and Borghild. His brother Hans Loken married his wife's sister and followed them to Canada some years later. They farmed near Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.
I am quite certain that the forefathers had taken on the name of the farm or area that they came from in Norway and this is where the name Loken originated.
I have a relative in New York with the last name of Yastrub. Other married names were Playford, and Wallace also from the United States and Johnston from Canada.
i would appreciate any information that you may have.
