The Polish spelling of the name is Łojewski (the crossed L is pronounced ew and makes the English w sound) which would be pronounced wo-yef-ski. Since the English alphabet doesn't have the letter Ł, the name is usually changed to Lojewski which would be pronounced lo-yef-ski.
The name comes from the village job of the person that cooked down the dead remains of horses or cows that died and extracted the oil to be used in lamps. Not a popular job but was very important.
