Trying to help out with the search for the Logsdon Family of the area that was Virginia, now West Virginia. Have seen some old posts in other site's forums, but want to inquire if progress has been made recently.
Have traced a branch of the Logsdon family back to William Herbert (Bert) Logsdon, (1878-1943) who was married to Nellie N Earhart (1882-1967). This couple spent much of their married life in Lyon County, KS. William (Bert) is reported as having been born in Virginia (WV) and with the help of Internet searches have tied William (Bert) to Frank A Logsdon (on FindaGrave: Franklin A Logsdon) (1851-1932) who was married to Margaret Jennie McFann (1861-1937).
I see in another site's forum that the search for Frank's parents has been ongoing, but over a decade ago had yet to bear results. I am hoping someone has made more progress since then. If anyone has made progress, please share.
After doing some searches on census documents and West Virginia vital statistics databases, I see there are several Logsdon entries into the death records due to diseases. I also saw Logsdon entries in 1860 census where young Logsdons were attached to other families. I am trying to mute my natural tendency toward speculation, but is it possible this family was affected by disease and death to the point where the surviving children were taken in by other families? If so, would there be any formal court records of the area to verify this?
Still have not found Frank Logsdon in census documents for Virginia (and WV). Any assistance connecting Frank to his parents would be appreciated - even if it is to let me know the above theory is wrong - because of some data finally found on Frank.
