YOUNGSTOWN – Robert A. Loeb Jr., 68, of the city’s west side, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio following a brief illness.

Robert was born Nov. 5, 1944, in Altoona, Pa., a son of the late Robert A. Sr. and Dian DiBattista Loeb, and came to this area with his family as a child.

Mr. Loeb was 1963 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He worked for over 25 years at the General Motors Lordstown Plant, retiring in the mid-1990s.

In his younger days, Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles and he played guitar in several local bands. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns.

Mr. Loeb leaves his wife, Shari A. Bates Loeb, whom he married on May 25, 1996; his son, David (Mary) Loeb of Austintown; his daughter, Andrea Queen of Youngstown; three sisters, Jackie (Jack) McCormick of Columbus, Ohio, Darlene (Tom) Sabo of Youngstown, Ohio and Debbie (Randy) Blyler of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Amber, Samantha, Emily, Connor, and Hannah; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Mylah; his mother-in-law, Diane Bates of Youngstown; and a brother-in-law, Glenn J. “Joe Glenn” Bates of Youngstown.

Bob was a generous and giving person, and his last act of kindness was his donation to Lifebanc so others may enjoy the gift of life.

A son-in-law, Jeffrey Queen, and his father-in-law, Van Bates, are deceased.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Bob’s life from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
