W. Donald Llewelyn
COOPERSTOWN — W. Donald Llewelyn, 92, of Cooperstown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at The Meadows.
Donald was born in Homestead, Pa., on Jan. 6, 1906, a son of William and Emma (Perkins) Llewelyn.
Mr. Llewelyn graduated from high school in the Bronx. He married Elena M. Garbarino on June 11, 1938.
Donald was an accountant for various companies in the New York City area, until is retirement.
Donald enjoyed photography, crossword puzzles, traveling, playing cards and Scrabble.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elena; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dylis and Herb Burdt of Richfield Springs and Dorothy and Stan Lewis of Medford, Long Island; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jaqueline and Mark Baxendell of Groton, Valerie and Robert Durfee of Saranac Lake, Richard and Tammy Burdt of Saranac Lake and Richard and Pam Gerard of Littleton, Colo.; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church of Saint Mary with Fr. John Roos, pastor, officiating. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Cooperstown, when the family will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish may make contributions in his name to the Activity Fund at The Meadows, 140 County Highway 33 West, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326, or to Our Lady of the Lake Church of St. Mary, 31 Elm St., Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326, or to a charity of their choice.
Mr. Llewelyn will be placed in the receiving vault in the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Cooperstown. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.
