i know that other Llanes men came from france because my mom talked about her "uncles", which i think must have been her great-uncles, as her mom only had one brother. the origin of the name "llanes" is from asturia, in spain, so the family must have moved to Perpignan from there. looking on the map, it isn't far, just a lot of mountains, the Pyranees. in Spain and Mexico the name is spelled Llanez at times and also Yanez. i have also found this surname in the Philippines. i hope we can pick up the thread somehow! it would be wonderful to find relatives! thanks so much, cathie
