Liuzzi, Rose
ROSE LIUZZI Rose returned home to Heaven on February 18, 2008, two weeks shy of her 100th Birthday! A passionate, loving woman, she exuded many of the typical Italian-heritage qualities. She married Jim Liuzzi in September of 1932. They had two children. Early in their marriage, Rose and Jim visited southern California and Jim vowed to return one day. The day came in 1947. They settled in Sherman Oaks and raised their children there. Jim became well known in Studio City as the "barber to the stars". Rose's home and family were always her top priority. The title "home-maker" was personified in Rose. All her efforts were about making a warm, loving home for her family. She was a fabulous cook, carrying on the recipes and cooking style her parents brought from Italy. She taught anyone who was interested how to "cook Italian". When she cooked for family and friends you could see the joy in her efforts... and the presentation was always picture perfect. It was very important, she would tell the girls, that food be pleasing to the eye and the table well set. She loved having her children, six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren over for Sunday dinners. It was a treat to open the front door to their home and be greeted by the aroma of Mom's "gravy", an unforgettable experience for anyone fortunate enough to have had it. Rose and Jim had many friends through church and Jim's business. After Jim died Rose joined the 55 Club at church and volunteered at North Hollywood Hospital. She taught all in the family the importance of unconditional love and loyalty to your family - never wavering, no matter what. And she taught by bold and powerful example. She is survived by her children, Betty (Tom, deceased) Breneman and Vince Liuzzi (Carol); grandchildren, Dawn Canfield (John), Tom Breneman, Jr. (Shelly), Vincent Liuzzi III (Jacqueline), Kathy Shepherd (Alec), Joe Liuzzi, and Thomas Liuzzi; and great grandchildren, Aubrey and Eryn Canfield, Kayla and Samuel Breneman, Dominque, Marcelo and Nicholas Liuzzi, Cole and Vivian Shepherd, Joey, Tigo, Dino and Marco Liuzzi. Services were held February 22, 2008, at her parish of 60 years, St. Francis de Sales.
