JOHN H. LITTLEFIELD SR., 82, of Mansion Road, a retired state worker, died yesterday at the Scallop Shell Nursing Home, in Peace Dale, South Kingstown. He was the husband of
the late Evalene (Grimes) Littlefield. A lifelong resident of Block Island, he was a son of the late Edgar and Lena M. (Briggs) Littlefield.

Mr. Littlefield worked for the R.I. Department of Transportation, on Block Island, for more than 40 years before he retired in 1994.

He was a member of the Block Island Volunteer Fire Department. He was also an avid gardener and surf caster.

He leaves two sons, Albert G. Littlefield and John H. Littlefield, and two daughters, Charon B. Littlefield and Cindy J. Deane, all on Block Island, and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Maude, Marcus and Jeremiah Littlefield, Edgar Littlefield Jr., and Bella
Gardiner.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Andrew's Chapel, Chapel Street. Burial will be in Island Cemetery.
