I am researching the Lister family of Dodworth.
One James Lister born about 1841 married Annie Young on 14 January 1869 in Worsbrough (Annie might also have been known as Hannah)
They had a number of children born in Dodworth
Mary LISTER Born abt 1869 (not too sure about this one, must have been a close call)
Henry LISTER Born 6 Aug 1870
William LISTER Born abt 1872
Alice LISTER Born abt 1873
John LISTER Born abt 1874
and one born in Cantley, Yorkshire - her name was:
Hannah LISTER Born abt 1877
i losttrack ofthem, and they poped up againin Wroot. The 1881 Census shows the Family as resident in High street, Wroot, Lincolnshire where James Lister is shown as an Inn Keeper. His occupation in all other documentation I have is as a farmer from Dodworth.
My association is with Henry Lister (my grandfather) who joined the 7h Queens Own Hussars in abt 1888 and went to India and Africa. After returning to England he then went back for the Boer War after which I believe he later returned to Africa and after spending time in Johannesburg, moved to Rhodesia where he was a miner.
The farthest back I have been able to research is with James Marriage certificate which shows his father as William Lister, a farmer from Dodworth and Annie's father as Farmer from Worsbrough.
If you have any ties with this family and are prepared to share information, please get in touchas I am willingto do likewise.
Thanks
