Army Spec. 4 Thomas Washington Lipsey III - died in Vietnam, Formerly of 604 Gilbert St., age 21, passed away February 6, 1972 in Grid, Cood, Vietnam.
Mr. Thomas Lipsey was born May 24, 1951 in Kalamazoo, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lipsey and attended the Kalamazoo Public Schools.
Upon graduation from Central High School in 1970, Thomas Lipsey enlisted in the Army and underwent basic training in Ft. Knox, Ky and advance artillary training at Ft. Sill, Okla.
He was a member of the Helping Club and was active in the Unity Youth for Christ.
Thomas Lipsey was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church.
His step-mother, Mrs. Jeanne Lipsey preceded him in death, January 2, 1968.
Surviving are: father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Lipsey, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Fay Haywood of Kalamazoo; one brother, Charles Lipsey of Kalamazoo; three step-brothers, Marvin Heltzel of Grand Rapids, Michael Heltzel of Grand Rapids, Michael Heltzel of Florida and Army C.W.O. Martin Heltzel of Turkey; six step-sisters, Angela, Sara and Cathy Lipsey, Cathy Smith and Mrs. Catherine Cole, all of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Christine Sebeste of Allegan, Michigan and Mrs. Connie Reese of Kalamazoo; several aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Military graveside services will be held at Mount Ever-Rest Chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m., Rev. B. Moses James officiating.
Interment, Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery.
