YOUNGSTOWN - Rose Lio, 92, passed away on Thursday July 17, 2014, at Omni Manor Nursing Home.
Rose was born July 30, 1921, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Richard and Carmel Acri Lio.
Rose retired from General Electric Mahoning Glass Plant in Niles, Ohio as a glass inspector after many years.
She was a member of St. Edward Church in Youngstown.
Rose was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the 49ers football team.
In memory of her nephew, Alex, Rose was a great supporter of Fairhaven School and the Special Olympics.
Rose is survived by her sister, Jane Rostan of Austintown, Ohio; nieces and nephews James Prevec, Janet Santangelo, Gilbert Lio, Rita Sadler, Henry Rostan and Ronald Rostan; many great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ray and Caroline Prevec; her brother, James Lio; and her nephew, Alex Ray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Msgr. Robert Siffrin on Monday, July 21, at noon at St. Edward Church, preceded by a prayer service at 11:15 a.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, Ohio.
The family will receive relatives and friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rose will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
