Help with where to go, can i verify conflicting names?

Hi there, i have been looking into my family history on and off for a few years now.

I ran into a few problems here and there, but i thought i had got through them, but now i am becoming worried that some of the furthest back ancestors i have found may not be right.

Heres what i have.

My family are from Glasgow, living in coburg street for 3 or 4 generations, before that they are from newtownards in ireland, i have confirmed and verified everything until as far as ireland, then it gets more difficuilt.

My gggrandfather Robert lindsay was born in 1875, i have his birth cert, which has his father and mothers names, which are david lindsay and agnes startton and has their marriage being in ireland on a certain date,

The only marriage for those names on that date i could find i printed from roots ireland, the name on the fathers name was David, i assumed it to mis transcribed or something.

However i have what i think is Davids (born 1875) death certificate, he died in coburg street and mentions his wifes maiden name which is the 100% correct, it gives his fathers name as Robert, and his mothers as the surname is written as "farrias", but after looking into it i assumed something was lost in the telling of the name between generations and presumed it to be ferris, that tied in as i found a marriage between robert and jane in 1836 in ireland, it all (just about) fits, i have janes death cert from coburg street (she moved there after robert died), i also have roberts will, which gives her new address as coburg street and she and all their children fit 100%

this is what i have used as a basis of my research.

now however i have purchased a proper copy of david and agnes marriage cert, and it is clearly hand written that his fathers name is David, which would mean that either the death cert was wrong (maybe David lindsays son didnt know his grandfathers name and just put something in?) or the marriage cert is wrong.

I dont know what to do now, there are limited records available from then in ireland, so i dont know.

Almost everything i have points to Robert being the father, yet david is there in the marriage, im confused, LOl.

Thanks for reading, im really no good at explaining stuff, if you can make heads or tails of what i have wrote, and you have any advice, it would be appreciated.
