John Wilson Linam of Canon City, CO died March 8, 2005 in Canon City after a lengthy illness. He was born July 6, 1927 in Ault to the late John L. and Edna J. (Swan) Linam. He married Hazel May McCann on April 14, 1951.

At the age of 16, he joined the Boiler Maker's Union in Vancouver, Wash and within 6 months was an apprentice. He worked in the shipyards building ships as a Master Joint Welder, all before he was 19 years old.

He served in the US Army from Dec 1945 to Dec 1948. He served as a supply clerk and performed reclamation services after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He achieved the rank of Corporal.

He was a carpenter by trade. He lived and worked in Canon City until 1979 then moved to Portland, Oregon for 14 years where he retired from the City of Portland. He came back to Canon City in 1989.

John is survived by his wife Hazel; five children - Madeline Dial, Terry Carroll, Juanita Wilcox, Carol Shuman and John F. Linam; 12 grandchildren; six sisters - Gladys Finn, Hazel Thomas, Betty Pardee, Mona Lenard, Margie Garrison and Connie Linam; three brothers - Charlie Linam, Carl Linam and Jerry Linam; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Tommy Dial and two brothers, Roger Dale Linam and Donald Linam.

Burial at Mountain Vale Memorial Park Cemetery in Canon City, CO. Holt Family Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
