We are direct descendents of of John Hodges
Linam. Our grandmother's mother was Marsha Alice Brown Chambers and her mother was
Carolyn Susanne Linam(1815-1896)born in
Union District, S.C.to John Hodges Linam.
John Linam moved to Lawrence County Tenn.
by 1825 and did accumalate alot of land.
The house he built is still standing. There
is a Linam family cemetary across the highway
from the house. Carolyn Linam married James
Chambers, Aug 7,1837 in Lawernce County, TN.
and by 1840 they were in Marion Co. Arkansas.
James Chambers enlisted in Civil war in 1846
at Fort Smith Arkansas and continued to Fort
Gibson, Indian terr(Oklahoma).
James Chambers died in 1846 at FT. Gibson.
Carolyn Chambers then married a Richard
Young. She petitioned the court to appoint
Richard Young as guardian to her children
John Wiley Chambers and Carolyn Frances
Chambers.
Carolyn Frances grew up to marry William
Thomas Bowen and became the ancestor of all us from this branch of the Bowen family.
