My grandmother's name was Anna Lilge, Scheuerman(Schierman) Witterin.
She was born in Alsasc Lorraine, Germany on Jan 9 1872. She came to America in 1891 on the ss Kaiser Wilhelm in 1891 and ported at New York. She stayed 2 days then went to Bethleham and homesteaded, she stayed 2 1/2 years, then moved on to Canada. In 1894 she married John Scheuerman in Calgorie. My grandmother Agnes was born in Bruderheim in 1905. Written by my grandmother, Agnes Sherman:
When we moved to Portland Oregon from Canada, Nanna bought the ticket in Edmonton. Traveling by train we started in Edmonton changed at Calgorie then straight on to Portland. there were no pemits required to Portland. I was examined by United States Immegration officers at the boundry. There person we were going to see was my uncle, Andrew Lilge. I traveled with My mother Anna Schierman (Nanna), my uncle Willie Lilge, my sisters Clara, Retha, Lena and my brother Benard Sherman. The train was called "The Flyer". The date was August 15, 1912.
