Traveling by train we started in Edmonton changed at Calgorie then straight on to Portland. there were no pemits required to Portland. I was examined by United States Immegration officers at the boundry. There person we were going to see was my uncle, Andrew Lilge. I traveled with My mother Anna Schierman (Nanna), my uncle Willie Lilge, my sisters Clara, Retha, Lena and my brother Benard Sherman. The train was called "The Flyer". The date was August 15, 1912.
