I'm pretty happy in my research... tracing my wife's family back to a James S Lile who was born in 1775 in VA, but died in Green county KY.
I'm pretty sure he was one of the founders of Liletown, possibly cofounder... William Wood Lile may have had a part too?
But then there is the matter of Col. Alexander Lile who has some pretty good documentation as being a "bigwig" around Liletown, yet I can't seem to tie him to James S Lile.
Also there is the matter of the name "Lile". I read a verbal story from someone in the 70's that said Liletown was spelled "Liletown" because the man who was giving a name to the post office couldn't spell "Lisle" correctly.
If someone knows the history of Liletown better, or knows who founded it or knows a book that details it please let me know. Thanks so much... just trying to figure out where these Liles/Lisles came from!
