MORNING SUN, Iowa -- Cleola 'Cleo' Hazel Lihs, 93, formerly of Wapello, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at the Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun.

The Rev. John Gaulke will officiate the services. Burial will be at Fulton Cairo Cemetery, rural Morning Sun.

A memorial fund has been established for the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.

Mrs. Lihs was born Sept. 6, 1911, Keosauqua, the daughter of Jesse Michael and Della Mae Godown Thomas. She married Herman August Lihs Sept. 11, 1931, in Columbus Junction. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1996.

She had done custodial work for various homes and businesses. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, Wapello. She enjoyed reading, bowling, playing bingo and cards. She loved her family, especially going on fishing trips with them.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Geiger and husband Gary of Wapello; two sons, Max Lihs of Bettendorf and Craig E. Lihs and wife Marilyn of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Mildred Lake of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson; three sisters; and four brothers.

WAPELLO, IOWA — Michael Dean ‘Mike’ Lihs, 45, of Wapello, died Wednesday , November 5, 2008, at the Genesis Medical Center West Campus at Davenport.
Graveside Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the Fulton Cairo Cemetery, rural Morning Sun. Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Military rites will be by the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League of Burlington.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Michael was born on March 11, 1963, in Burlington, the son of Jackie Lihs and Martha Wagg. He married Lee Ann Whitington on March 22, 1986, in Wapello.
He graduated from Wapello High School in 1981.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a truck driver having worked at Pain Enterprise of Muscatine.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello and recently attended the First Baptist Church at Mediapolis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, camping and cars.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Lihs of Wapello; two sons, Christopher Lihs of Galesburg, Illinois, and Chad Lihs and wife, Tasha, of Morning Sun; a daughter, Mary Lihs at home; his father and step-mother, Jackie and Karen Lihs of Winfield; and two brothers, David Lihs and Jim and Lisa Lihs, both of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha and a brother, Gene.

MORNING SUN, Iowa — Konner Michael Lihs, 8- week-old son of Chad and Tasha Watts Lihs of Morning Sun, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. Reverend Dan Baker officiate. Burial will follow at the Fulton Cairo Cemetery, rural Morning Sun.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the funeral home.

Konner was born on March 30, 2009, at West Burlington.

He was a wonderful baby and enjoyed his family and friends. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church at Mediapolis and the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Grove.

Konner’s family includes his parents, Chad and Tasha; his maternal grandparents, Tim and Krista Watts of Mediapolis; his paternal grandmother, Lee Ann Lihs of Wapello; his maternal great-grandparents, Jim and Verlee Kaufman of Keithsburg, Illinois, and Wilma Gundy and Ed Collins of Jericho Springs, Missouri; his paternal great-grandparents, Jackie and Karen Lihs of Winfield, and Linda Whitington of Wapello; two aunts, Ashlyn Watts of Mediapolis and Mary Lihs of Wapello; an uncle, Chris Lihs and Candy Glover of Morning Sun; and his godparents, Aaron Wonders and Amanda Rice Harvey.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Michael Lihs and his paternal great- grandparents, Martha Lihs and Gary Whitington.
