My links to Scotland have been confirmed through both brothers William and Francis. William settled in Paisley after leaving the army in 1854. He married Jane Scollan. Their daughter, Mary Jane Liggett, married Samuel Connis, a ship’s stoker. They had three children William Liggett Connis (1883-83), George Edmund Connis (1886-87) and Jane Connis (1889-91). All three died in infancy.
Francis moved to Renfrew around 1850. He settled in Paisley with his wife Ann Morrow. Three children were born in Ireland William, Elizabeth and Susan, and two sons, Francis and Robert were born in Scotland. Francis’ daughter Susan married Ann’s son Andrew in 1866 in the Episcopalian Church in Paisley and they had two children, Terence and Andrew.
