I have two volumes of information on the L'Hommedieu family written by Portia Haven L'Hommedieu and William A. L'Hommedieu of Long Island. It was not very well written and is a hodge podge of information. I'm trying to make some sense of it and when I do, I'll post the results.

IN the mean time, anyone who would like to get the info as I have time to get in to it, let me know and I'll put your name on an emailing list. So far I have been able to trace my line from Benjamin to Kenneth of Manhasett Long Island.

Toni

I don't know if you have seen a previous query of mine re: Anna, my wife's gm. I have only been able to trace back 2 generations before hitting the brick wall. I agree that all L'Hommedieus are related and that somewhere there is a connection to Benjamin Constant. Pierre died in Ulster Co. NY without issue that I could find. The other siblings didn't come over to my knowledge. Please add me to your email list.TIA

Please forward L'Hommedieu info. My wife is one from upstate NY ( Cincinnatus sp?, S. Otselic area, father is Richard L'H). Here at the Museum of Mobile, where I work, we have several examples of silver flatware and holloware made by J.A. L'hommedieu and/or the L'H brothers dating ca 1840- 1850s, the brothers I think came from Conn in the 1830s or 40s to Mobile and set up shop, they later moved on to New Orleans I think.

Dear Dave,

I will certainly sent you what ever information I have when I get it put all together. Can't tell when that will be.

Thanks for letting me know about the museum in Mobile and the other great info.

Also, a Lake L'Hommedieu in Minn. was named after another L'Hommedieu silversmith. Interesting.

Hello! Your wife is the daughter of my mother's cousin; tomorrow we are going to your wife's grandmother's funeral service in Cincinnatus. I understand Richard is (coincidentally) on his way to NYS in an RV(?); I hope that someone has been able to contact him.
My mother is Joyce Ann L'Hommedieu Schrader Taras. My grandfather, John Blaine (Blayney) Youngs L'Hommedieu and George Taylor L'Hommedieu were brothers. I can remember great times at Uncle George's and Aunt Lucille's, riding around the yard in a wagon pulled by a tractor. Please give my condolences to your wife...

Surnames: L'Hommedieu, Vail, Smith
Toni,
Just found your postings on L'Hommedieu family. I am looking for ancestors of Grover L'Hommedieu (1741-1821) who married Esther Vail. Their dau Abby Vail L'Hommedieu married Gurdon Smith in Say Brook, Middlesex Co, CT in 1801.
Do you find Grover in your book and are there any relatives listed?
Thank you,
Penny

Hi Toni,
If you are still on the list, would you share with me what you have. I have had difficulty with the Lhommedieu line and the best I have gotten is all the family census pages from 1790 and on in NY, CT, NJ, PA. I am trying to piece families together. Any assistance you could provide would be much appreciated.

Surnames: Waelde, L'Hommedieu
Toni, I just started researching my husband's family history. Edna Rose L'HOMMEDIEU is my husband's great grandfather. Edna Rose married William Erwin Waelde. All I know about Edna Rose was that she was born in 1877 in Jersey City, NJ. Did you ever decifer the L'Hommedieu family history volumes you have? Is the information available? Thank you

I have been searching for the L'H family so would like to see your book when you feel it is fairly complete. I found most all on the FamilySearch website from Pierre,b.abt.1631, down to my Mothers' Father,Alburtus Oran L'hommedieu, b.1865.
