The name L'Hirondelle was a dit name.

The original name was Dubois dit Rondel from original settler to Quebec, Joseph Mathurin Dubois dit Rondel m. to Therese Miville....Their two sons, Joseph & Jacques used the name L'Hirondelle interchanged along with Dubois dit Rondel....Finding them in the Drouin Collection was a challange.....

There was a Jacques Dubois dit Rondell dit L'Hirondel b. 1765 in LaPrairie, to Jacqus and Catherine Babeau...haven't been able to find where he went, but surmise he is the one who worked for the Hudson Bay Co.......Some of the grandsons of Mathurin moved to the USA.....

I have not been on this name forum for awhile and noticed your info for L'Hirondelle. First question, what is the Drouin Collection and second would the Jacques Dubois dit Rondell be the same as my husband's ancestor, Jacques L'Hirondelle married to Marie Josephte Pilon? I have no siblings for our Jacques or parents. Our line comes for their oldest daughter Catharine L'Hirondelle b. 1793, Lesser Slave Lake, Alberta. It would be great to get back further.
