STOW - Dr. Ernest A. Lewandowski, 88, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2015, in the comfort of his home in Stow, Ohio.

He was the beloved husband of 27 years to Loretta “Rett” (Felton-Maslach), whom he married on Valentine’s Day in 1987.
He is survived by five of his six children, Denise Brown Palma (Ernie) of University Heights, Ohio, Thomas A. (Debbie) of Illinois, Gregory E. of Cleveland, OH, Dr. Phillip J. (Abby) of Akron, Ohio, and Jeffery (Kanika) of Queensland, Australia; and step-father of Valerie Ann Maslach Moffa, Dr. Donald Anthony, of Hudson.
He was the proud grandfather to his 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; along with three great-grandchildren.

Ernest was born in Garfield Heights, Ohio and was the youngest child of Frank P. and Anna (Cwiklinski), who are both deceased.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Marie Seifert; his brothers, Roman “Ray” (Virginia) and Chester (Abbie); and sister Austina Gruszka.

Dr. “Lew,” as he was known, was a 1944 graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, attending Notre Dame College, followed by John Carroll University, graduating in 1949, after his service in the Navy during World War II.
He went on to earn his medical degree from Kansas City College of Medicine in 1953.

He was a founding father of South Point (formerly Brentwood) Hospital and he owned Turney Medical Group, where he practiced family medicine in Garfield Heights for 40 years before his retiring to Venice, Fla.
Ernest returned to the Hudston/Stow area to be near family in 2004.

In his youth, Dr. Lewandowski delighted in playing hockey and football and in later years, he enjoyed both golf and tennis.
Laughter truly was his best medicine and he “prescribed” it for every person with whom he came into contact, even during his final days.
Telling jokes and making people laugh is how he will always be remembered.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A private family service will be held. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
