Hello Laurie- It was wonderful seeing both you and your Mom
at our 2009 TAMPA Levell Reunion! I hope that everyone is
enjoying the LEVELL GENEALOGY which I put together! Like
you, I am still searching for more info on our ancestors-
but, so far nothing yet. I won't give up hope though as I
am also researching my Mom's family ("BELL" from around the
Cool Springs Baptist Church in Draneville, Marion Co., GA).
P.S.: As we know the KING,LEVEL/LEVELL,WINKFIELD, TERRY
FAMILIES ALL LIVED AROUND EACH OTHER AMONG OTHER SURNAME
FAMILIES WE ARE AND MAY BE RELATED TO.

Great seeing all of the family that attended this reunion

I'm just updating after a few years. I will be attending the Levell Family Reunion in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, the weekend of July 10, 2009. I hope to see many of you there.

I have a new grandson named Isaiah J. Morgan. He's 10 months old.

HELLO: As a direct descendant of Marion County, Georgia, USA, LEVEL/LEVELL/LEAVELL, I have often wondered where our
surname originated-however, no one in the family currently
living has any clue. We believe our ancestors my have been
Georgia slaves prior to 1870, in KITCHAFOONEE, MARION CO,
GEORGIA, but have no idea where they came from.

Hello... please help!

I am African American - researching Bristo/Brister Leverette - of Snow Hill, Alabama. 1843(apx) - 1922.

His wife: Missouri Savage Leverette. 1849(apx) - 1923.

Their children: Harriet (m Alfred Savage), Mary (m Thomas McCondichie), Thomas (m Lula Savage), Ann (m ?), John (m Maggie Andrews. My g-grandparents), Hunter (m Corine?), Zannie (m Susannah Langham), Vicie (m Abraham Loveless) and Frances (m John Gulley).

As you can see, my Leveretts are tied to many familiar names of Wilcox County.

One of my dilemmas - the spelling of Bristo's last name. On various documents - birth, death, marriage, census - the name is Livy, Levy, Level, Levelle, Levett, Levette, Levlet, Levelett, Leveret. I could go on.

I'd like to begin researching Bristo's slave owner. With a name that's been spelled so many ways - I am hoping someone can offer some advice... ?

Sallie-Hope you get this..My maiden name is LEVELL. My
Father, G-Father and his people are from/around Buena
Vista, Marion Co., GA. They attended, and many are buried
at, MT CARMEL BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY. One of my father's
sister is named Lillie Mae (Levell) Wiggins. She and her
spouse were childless. Hope this helps! ANNE

I'm researching my brother in-law's family tree. He has a Enoch (possibly George Enoch) Levell who was bn in 1833 in Newmarket (or Exning). He went to London, married Eliza and ran a coffee house in Paddington. But do not know anything of Enoch's family in Suffolk. Any connection to your Levells?

He and wife Isabella Gurney had 4 children:

I'm trying to track down any information regarding a Julia Levell born around 1853 in Liverpool - daughter of Edward Levell.

According to her 1871 marriage certificate the spelling is LEVELL and her father's name was Edward. However, her daughter's birth certifcate (Hannah South, b1872) gives mother's maiden name as LAVALLE.

Any connections out there?

Apeacha/Apecha or however you can spell her name was daughter of Edward and his second wife. She was born Oct 1800

In 1841 she married Vincent Jphnson/Johnston in Chattooga Co GA and they are found in the 1850 Broomtown Valley census. Vincent had many children by former wife/wives but only one daughter with Apeehy.

Rachel Marilza/Marilla married first Thomas Monroe Baker who died 1864. She married Samuel William Tunnell and they had LaMaggie Ann.

I do not know Noah or Minnie, but my grandmother's name was Lillie Mae Levell and she was the daughter of William and Druscilla (Lowe) Levell. She married John Robert Ritch. They were from Georgia/Alabama.

Gussie Nessmith, there was a Levell family reunion in Miami about 2 or 3 years ago. My mother attended. The Levell's had a reunion last year in Atlanta. I missed that one. In fact, I haven't attended a Levell reunion since I was about 13 years old. It was also held in Miami. Do you attend the Levell Family Reunion or the King Family Reunion. I saw Jimmie Lee, and Annie Mae earlier this month in Buena Vista at the King Family Reunion. I know there are a lot of Levell's in Dade. We live in Broward.

We have uncovered a mystery in the famiy history--
Jack J. Levels born 1866 (his grandson remembered his mentioning
that the name was once spelled with two "L"s) came out of nowhere
into Walker County Alabama. Years after his death, a letter
arrived from "relatives back in Georgia" who were trying to locate him.
The names of the relatives are currently unknown. Could this be one
of the family you have been researching? We would love to know more if this is the case.

Think we are probably long, very long, lost cousins. I am from the James Levell line. I can go back as far as 1806 with James and Agnes Cox (parents of Andrew/Anderson Levell). Andrew was married twice. The first time to Aurella Tandy. They had Charles Levell Sr. Charles had Luther and, as you know, Luther had Leslie.

My grandfather is named james levell (81). His father came from Kentucky but no ones knows anymore than that. His name as Leslie Levell.

Thank you so much for the information you were correct with leslie marriage. Also, Robert, Cecial, James, Mary. Where there children. Robert and James (grandpa) are still alive 91 and 81. It is funny grandpa's name is James Samuel Levell and my birthday is sept 16.

I was wondering how far you can take that back. I would really appricaite it because grandpa does not know any of his relaives because his father did not associate with them. So he has no idea.

I am looking for any information on Alton Levell. She would also go by the name Alton Guyton. She has as far as the family knows one child named Samuel Strong who was raised by relatives in Florida. Alton was born 15 July 1908 and her last residence was in Monmouth, NJ. She could have been born in NJ or Maryland. It is not known if she was married. Any information would be most appreciative. I also have photos that I will post.

I have a James Samuel Levell b. Sept 16, 1856 in Gallatin Co. KY.
He had a son Leslie b. 1887 in KY. d. Dec 12, 1950. Leslie married Blanch Scroggins in 1911 in Carroll Co. KY. They had Robert and Cecil.
Do you mean that your James in 81yrs old? If so, not the same one.
Let me know if you have any other family names and we can compare.
