Surnames: LEUBNER, HILDFLEISH, HUDSON, BROOKS
Hi everybody, I am curious to know how the LEUBNER families in USA are connected. My husband, Leroy, is the son of Ernest A. LEUBNER and Helen C. BROOKS. His grandparents were Emil LEUBNER and Emily HUDSON. His great-grandparents were Christian L. LEUBNER and Emma HILDFLEISH (sp ?) who emigrated from Austria in 1893 on the ship Elbe out of the port of Bremen, Ger. arriving on Sept. 26. in NY with his wife Emma and sons Emil who was 3, and Josef who was born on the trip over. There are stories of another son named Frederick and nicknamed Fritz who stayed behind and came later. There are records of Emil and Josef making a trip back to Austria in 1908 when they are 17 and 15. In Ellis Island records, in 1904 there is a Fritz LEUBNER 14 travelling with his cousins, who are brothers, Friedo LEUBNER 37 and Franz LEUBNER 20, they are listed as on their way to visit their cousin Christian LEUBNER who lives in Auburn, NY. and that they live in Dittenbach. Well, their cousin is my husband's great grandfather. Does anybody know where Dittenbach is? A Frank LEUBNER lived in Auburn in the 1860's before Christian arrived. He changed his name to HUEBNER by the 1880 census. Does anybody know how all the earlier arriving LEUBNER families are connected to us? Hoping to learn something of the early LEUBNER family history. Thanks, Sally M. Leubner
