Classification: Query
Surnames: Leu, Lew, Bone
Seeking info on direct ancestor, Philip LEU/LEW, his sibling, John, & parents. Per naturalization paperwork Philip was born in Switzerland. Surname on intent to file for naturalization cleary shows LEU but have only found Philip & his descendants as LEW.

Philip immigrated c1841 via NY to Pittsburgh PA. Rumor has it Philip immigrated with a brother, John (perhaps Johann). Philip & John were the sons of John LEU/LEW, a native of Switzerland [father, John, did not emigrate] & a wagonmaker by trade. Name of Philip & John's mother is unknown; location in Switzerland also unknown.

Philip spent his entire life in the US in Pittsburgh, owned a shoemaking shop on Carson St, South Side of Pittsburgh. Philip was later a carpenter at a steel mill. He married Louisa [Bone?], a German immigrant, c1849 & had six children.

An educated guess says Philip was a German speaker. He was Catholic. I can trace many of Philip's descendants, many of which are still in the greater Pittsburgh area. Seeking info on what became of the brother, John & any info on parents. Unknown if Philip had any siblings other than brother, John. Unknown if brother, John, was older or younger than Philip, who was born c1823.

Looking forward to contact with any "cousins" to verify/share info about this family.

Thanks
