Saw your messages about the LeMoines. I have found a John LeMoine in my family tree who was the son of Jean Baptiste LeMoine and Marie Cephalide LeMoine. This John was born around 1850 or thereabouts. I don't know what happened to him. Jean Baptiste LeMoine was a brother to my great-grandfather, Donas LeMoine. Donas married his wife, Marie Cephalide (who was a LeMoine herself, a first cousin to the brotherss), after Jn. Bpt.'s death. I've been trying to find out where their mother, Genevieve Bellegarde LeMoine, and father, Jean Antoine LeMoine, are buried. Genevieve and Antoine had several children born in what is now Avoyelles Parish according to church records. Would love to correspond with you regarding the interesting LeMoine family. Please respond via e-mail to : tdu7167108@aol.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards, Theresa

I have been told by my grandmother that we are descendants of five French brothers from Quebec who settled the Gulf Coast in 1700. I am researching this family. Please contact me at mart2542@aol.com. Thank you.

Hello!!! I'm one of the many, many LeMoines in Louisiana and I hail from Grant Parish, LA. I have traced my line back to a Charles LeMoi(y)ne who was in Natchitoches Parish, LA in the mid 1700's. I've always been told that we descend from the LeMoyne brothers, too. Would be happy to share any info I have with you if you want. Really glad to have made your acquaintance. Looking forward to hearing from you soon via e-mail.

I am working with several cousins on this LeMoyne connection. I recently found them on the Baptiste message boards and we are descendants of Pierre Baptiste (b. 1745) in Mobile AL -- we are researching old cathedral documents now trying to make his connection to Jean Baptiste LeMoyne, Sieur de Bienville. We have established that Bienville and 4 of his brothers (Pierre LeMoyne, Sieur d'Iberville; Joseph Le Moyne, Sieur de Serigny; Antoine Le Moyne, Sieur de Chateague II, and Francois Marie Le Moyne) explored and settled from New Orleans to Mobile around 1700 -- living in that area until the mid-1700's. We believe these brothers may have had children by Indian women and we are currently researching the church documents from that time period. Please advise your e-mail address so that we can keep in touch with you. Great to hear from you!!! Barbara

I don't know if I am descended from any of them but I suspect I am. The earliest guy in my direct line of descent is Charles LeMoine in Natchitoches Parish in the mid 1700's who married a Dupre woman. Any connection????
