His son Byron was my great grandfather. I've gotten as far as Jacob and Margaret Saddler but would love any and all info I can get my hands on. My cousin and I working on getting as much info as we can making it into a book for everyone. My email is margaretamaddox @ gmail

Leinart Family Bible Records, Anderson, TN 1845-1899

I have just finished typing up (to the best of my abilities) a transcript of the record of births, marriages, and deaths from the Leinart Family Bible, which is housed in the McClung Library in Knoxville, TN. The Bible contained 20 hand-written pages of family records for the descendents of Jacob Leinart & Margaret Saddler, and their close relatives.

The handwriting was good, but the quality of the photocopies I was working from was not so great, and the spelling can be described as "colourful" in places. Still, I was able to decipher most of it, and added notes when I could positively identify an individual's place on the family tree. The record was made between 1845 and 1899.

This message won't let me attach a PDF, but if you would like one, please drop me a note. I am happy to share.

I just received a notice that someone had replied to my query on the Leinart's I made in 2000 and saw you also responded in 2002. Was wondering if you ever got the family website started and if so I would love an invitation. I know have a better view of the family but have yet to get all the documentation to prove it. Sorry it's taken 5 years I have been working on a huge project and now have over 5000 families I am working on, so I have forgotten a lot of my old requests I placed on all the different boards on the net.

Thank you
Regina

hi,
Let me introsduce myself : my name is Remie Leinarts and i live in the Netherlands. There is a rather big chance that i am a descendant of the european branch of heinrich Leiner. I was browsing through my own ancestry and found in the states several mentionings of the name Leiner Leinart or Leinarts, including a hill a township with postoffice and the like. I must say that i was very astounded becuase it is easier to trace once american history than its european. you can rather easily trace your descendancy for 8 or 9 generations. which is for european standards rather a lot. (anything before 1815 is a gift because napoleon made the rules for familynames and such. before that it was all verry loose and uncomplete.
I hope that we are able to connect our families across the ocean.
hope to hear from you soon and a happy easter to you all !!!!

greatings remie

I've put together a big tree of all the Leinarts I know about. All are descendants of Henrich Leiner. There are more of us than you might think! Get in touch with me. I'd love to add your branch onto the big tree.

Mary Leinart

Jacob Leinart, Sr., Margaret Saddler

I have information that Jacob Leinart I, son of Heinrich Leiner, was born in York, PA, 1760. However, I don't know how reliable the place of birth is and wondering why David doubts that this is correct. I believe that, based on census recs., Jacob Leinart I and Margaret "Peggy" Saddler were married about 1797. Their first two children, Jane and Margaret, were born 1798 and 1800 respectively, York, PA., before removing to Anderson Co., TN. I also descend from Jacob Leinart and Margaret Saddler. Does anyone have information to confirm or deny the place of birth for Jacob?

Alice Leinart & Thomas Callaway

I have a mystery. Trees I have found at various locations show Alice and Thomas with 5 children: Dessa, Samuel, Josephine, Lucy, and Daniel. The 1900 census supports this. And Alice says she has had 5 children, all surviving and all are living with them. But in 1910, two more children appear: Fannie P. (age 9) and James (8). Alice however, now says she has had 6 children, 6 surviving. But I count 7. Daniel died in 1910 so if he didn't make the census that makes 6 surviving. Why don't other researchers show these two other children who are listed as son and daughter? Thanks for any help.
Polly

In May 1902 a huge explosion in a mine near Coal Creek, TN killed about 180 men including two Leinarts. They are listed as James E Leinart and Charles A Leinart and were both subsequently buried in Leach, TN.
I questioned the father of Jacob after reading that in a book on Heinrich Leiner, his sons did not include a Jacob. Just wondering how good the evidence is to support that. All I have seen is on ancestral file, and have been trained to question that database.
