FY I, I have seen some posts regarding Christian Leib and I'll have to add another one...
Apparently he was a constable of Lancaster county. I ran across something in my search on Lancaster History court records. - Thought I'd throw that out or others.
For me it's a tangled web I'm still working out ... It gets complicated. Looking at the archives it seems my 3x GGrandfather got himself into some trouble in 1862 with the High constable in Mount Joy and was ordered to be taken to the Lancaster county jail by constable Christian Leib. The initial document was signed by all parties.
Originally I thought it was a family squabble because of the names - my ancestor was married to Barbara Leib Martin who's parents were Christian Martin (1786 - 1828) and Elizabeth Leib (1790 - ?) Elizabeth's father was another Christian Leib.
Elizabeth's husband, Christian died as a young man with a family. His land of 125 acres in Mt Joy twp was sold July 30th 1830 and his Widow Elizabeth requested Christian Leib be appointed as guardian of the children..( Roy J. Martin archives, Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society.)
I'm guessing that is/was the constable but I don't have any other info...
