I thought those of you who like more than a little history with your geneaology would like to know that the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Yorktown will be commemorated in Yorktown, Virginia, in October of 2006. Celebrations are planned for dates ranging from early July, 2005 (when Francois' regiment landed at Newport, RI) through the summer of 2006 (when the regiment marched with other French army units through several eastern states on their way to Virginia) and into October at Yorktown. The reenactment community is expected to turn out in a big way for the Yorktown event, with the French soldiers represented as well.
An organization called W3R (for Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Road), with National and individual state units, is coordinating events from Newport to Yorktown. I'm involved with the W3R on the national and Connecticut level as a Le Bas/Leabo descendant.
