Alexandre Leboeuf was born believed in the province of Québec. I am missing father & mother name to trace him in the 2215 folio I have regarding the Lebouf's clan. But there was a Alexandre in Fort Laramée Wyoming USA in 1852. Possibly born in around 1832. I have a folio no 2171 as possibility uncertain. This Leboeuf has maried a Oglola Sioux woman & had 2 children with her, Zoé born 1857 & Alex junior born in 1862 . Than he will divorce her to maried a Piegan Blackfoot woman and had 4 children born in Oregon Sara , Maggie, Gilbert & Henry . In 1880 he moved to a french settlement near Pincher Creek in Alberta Canada. Alexandre died in 1894 burried in Alberta or in Northen Montana .Alexandre was a horse raiser well known at that time.
I am also looking for the Sioux and Blackfoot métisse family's clan, since I have connected with the one in Louisiane and also the Cajun before they were deported by the British. Can you helpe me with this.
Thank you

Hi Gina,

I had a look at the picture you posted and compared it to one that I have of Delima DesRoches (nee Charlebois). They look very similar but I still can't give a definitive answer as to whether they are the same person. Do you know what date the picture you posted was taken in? It may be that the woman in your picture is just a bit younger then the one I have of Delima. The picture I have was taken about 1937/38, which was around the time of my father's first or second birthday. Was yours taken earlier then this? Let me know.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Doreen

Hello Doreen,

I hope you are fine and enjoying the Holiday Season. I was working a bit on the family tree and I was happy to be able to get a good look at the pictures you posted for our great-grandmother Octavie Leboeuf.

Can you go and check out the picture I have added in my Ferraro family tree of Octavie Leboeuf. I scanned the picture of Octavie standing behind my grand-mother Clara(nee Brasseur)on the left, grand-father Edouard Charlebois in the middle and I'm wondering if the lady on the right of my grand-father is your grand-mother Delima. I think my mother had told me she was one of Edouard's sisters and I find she looks like the lady in the picture you posted in your tree with Octavie. What do you think ?

Take care
Gina

Hi Doreen,

On Friday I am going with one of my cousins to meet her friend who has done work in genealogy. Maybe she will be able to help us find out more info on great grandmother Octavie. I will keep you posted. I'd really like to see the pictures you have of Octavie. I'm pretty new at Ancestry.com so I don't quite know how to get all the info. I noticed there was the picture I posted of Octavie on the board and other ones that were private. Is there a way for me to see them ? I would really like too cause the only one I have is not very clear. Can you help ?
Thanks
Gina

Hi Gina,

I have gathered a little more information since I posted the original message. You are correct in her birth information however I still have not been able to confirm her marriage to Napoléon Charlebois took place in the USA in 1861. I have also not been able to confirm that her first son, Napoléon, was born in Oswego, USA even though it say this on his marriage certificate to Lucie Brunelle.

What I have found out is that she died in Timmins, Ontario on Dec 5, 1942 and was buried in LaFontaine, Ontario on Dec 7, 1942. I believe that she may have been living with her daughter (Delima) and her son-in-law (Adolphe DesRoches) in Timmins at the time of her death.

I have just applied to get Octavie's long form death certificate from the Registrar General in hopes that it may contain more information such as where she may have been married.

By the way, I saw the picture that you have of Octavie on the Gina Ferraro Family Tree and she looks so similar to several of the pictures that I have of her. I also have pictures of her daughter, Delima as well. I am hoping to add them to my tree soon.

Let me know if you would like any further information regarding Delima and Adolphe's family. They are my great grandparents.

Doreen DesRoches

I've just started to make my family tree and I came upon your message. So here is an answer to your message 3 years later. Hope this info helps you.
My grand-father Edouard was Delima's brother. The info I have says that Octavie Leboeuf was born and baptized August 16, 1841 in Beauharnois, Quebec. She and Napoleon were married in 1861 in USA. Their first son, Napoleon was born in Oswego, USA so maybe they were married in Oswego too.
Gina F.

Hi, Monica!

I'd love to hear what you've got. I did do a bit of a family tree and I've got most of it except the newer information. For example, I need your daddy's birthdate! We've moved and are moving again and I haven't had time to work on this for nearly a year. I haven't talked to Laurie in that long either...I feel awful about that. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things once I get settled in Corpus. At that point I want to polish up what I have of the Sonnier/LeBoeuf families and get back to work on the Williams side and then my dad's side.

I did find a book that was published that traces the Sonnier family back to their roots in France. I'd be glad to send the name and ISBN to you as soon as I find it ;)

I also have some links that trace the LeBoeuf family back to who knows when...I forgot. But it does all match up with what I found in my research. (It was nice to be confirmed.)

I went to the graveyards in Crowley, Rayne, Mowatta and that area and took some pictures of headstones. One of these days I'll go through and match those with names and publish those on my site as well. Mom recently gave me her photo album which contains a number of pictures of Grandma LeBoeuf and all her children. I'd be glad to share those once I scan them and get them online. If you have any to share, I'd love to see them.

Let's talk more through email. . . I'll write you.

I am looking for any definite birth information (date & place) and marriage information (date & place) for my great-great-grandmother, Octavie LeBoeuf.

At the moment what I do know is that she was born between 1841 and 1844 in Quebec and that she was buried in Penetanguishene, Ontario on December 5th, 1942. Also, in the 1861 Census, she was living in Ste-Anicet Parish, Beauharnois County, Quebec.

Regarding her marriage, Octavie was married sometime after 1861 to Napoleon Charlebois, who was born Dec 5th, 1845 in Ste-Anicet Parish, Beauharnois County, Quebec. They had several children, one of which was my great-grandmother, Délima Charlebois who married Adolphe DesRoches in 1900 in LaFontaine, Ontario.

Any information regarding her would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Doreen DesRoches

I also have LeBoeufs that originated Beauharnois area.
I have Marie Josephte LeBoeuf b. abt 1804 and her sister Angelique LeBoeuf who were daughters of Etienne LeBoeuf and Marie Louise Roy. There were I think 7 other children.. the only other siblings name I have is Etienne b abt 1809.

Marie Josephte LeBoeuf would be my gggrandmother. She married Jean Baptiste Roy and their two children (that I know of) are Jean Baptiste Roy and Benjamin Roy. Benjamin moved to Ontario and changed name to King.

If this is the same family I would appreciate ANY info .... it is certainly thought that much of the families probably moved to either Ontario or northern US... and many anglicized their names.. sure makes it harder to figure out!

--Jen
Toronto ON

LeBoeufs of Louisiana

There were many LeBoeufs who settled in a tiny little place in Louisiana called Iota. The little towns around Iota are Frey, Mowata, Crowley and Raine. There is a cemetery in Frey with the following LeBoeufs:

Anson
Edna
Marie
T.D.
Theogar (Theogear)
Theogene
Louisa
Gilbert

There are obviously many Freys and some Sonniers. Sonnier is my great-grandmother's name, Marie Sonnier LeBoeuf.

I found an article in the paper that says one of the LeBoeufs was the postmaster at Frey, Louisiana, and his name was John Meus LeBoeuf. He is the son of Theogene and Louisa. The article (an interview with John) states that the family comes from Nova Scotia. He says the LeBoeuf children were Theodore (possibly T.D. or Theogar) and Theogene Jr., and a sister named Oza (Ms. Louis Frey).

Is there anyone with more information on this family?

My mom remembers seeing her when she was little. i tried to write u an email, but it wouldn't go thru so i'm writing u here.
Hi Philip,
Sorry about the double post, but I've been working on my web site, and was just tired, and misrepresented my self. I said my “great” grandfather too is named Leo Joseph LeBoeuf on my father's side,

This is incorrect, it was supposed to be My Grandfather too is named Leo Joseph LeBoeuf not “Great” grandfather.
The rest of it was correct. So I’ll restate it here.

My dad's name was Cyril Joseph LeBoeuf,
his fathers name was Leo Joseph LeBoeuf
and my dad had at least one brother named Luba Paul LeBoeuf and I think he even had some sisters, one named, I don’t know how to spell it, but it sounds like Migreet
but I'm not sure so I don't list any of them on my web site just yet.
History and Variations of LeBoeuf

I'm a LeBouef, descendent of Thomas LeBoeuf of Aunis, France. I was born and raised in Houma La. Thomas' father Francois b 1587 in Giray, France is the furthest back I can go. After reading post on the Le Bouef thread I checked the spelling Le Boeuf at ancestry.com and found Brient Le Boeuf b 1180 doesn't say where from. There were a couple others. Can anyone fill in the 407 years in between the two and maybe even make a conection to Francois and Thomas?
thanks
Keith LeBouef

Hi, Phil,

I notice that it appears you have typed your name with a space between Le and Boeuf. Is this the way you traditionally write your name? If it is, I've never seen it before and I've researched the variants of LeBoeuf. There are some LeBuffs in the Buffalo, NY area, and I've tried to reach them by mail a few times but they don't respond.

Thanks,

CL

I sometimes rarely use LeBoeuf because I doubt if there was any kind of "legal" change.

I'm currently working on a LeBuff Family History.
The closest information I do have on Alfred Leboeuf is: Alfred, son of Louis and Marguerite Bélanger, married in Saint-Pierre-les-Becquets, october 7 1862, with Émilie Fortier, daughter of Louis Fortier and Marie Bédard.
The Tupper Lake name is a familiar name because when I was young in Deschaillons, our neighbour, Napoléon Leboeuf was talking about this place because he when there as a lumber jack, may be because he knew somebody there.
In the Deschaillons record, I do find a Alfred Leboeuf, son of the above, who married Atala Brisson, on august 8 1884, the parents were from (St-Regis).
Hoping this will satisfy your request.
Pierre Carette, Québec City, born and former resident of Deschaillons.

My Grandmother was a Le Boeuf. Her name was Armaline and she married my grandfather Alphonse Beaudette. I can not remember her father's name. Her father was a superintendant at the local mill in tupper. The name of the mill was "Hurd's Big Mill". The names you have listed sound like my grandmothers brothers and sisters. Please feel free to contact me at any point in time about needing any more information or a possible trip up to Tupper Lake. I know that there is more information that can be obtained from family members. I have a couple of Aunts and a Uncle that are still living and would be more than happy to pass on any information that you may need.

Sincerely, Andrew J. Beaudette
